7 TIPS TO MAKE THE MOST MONEY JUNKING YOUR CAR

Cars never appreciate in value unless you bought a 1994 Toyota Supra.

Here are some tips to get the most money for your car in Florida.

1.  MAKE SURE YOUR TITLE IS READY AND CLEAR OFF ANY LIENS.

Often when you finish paying your car loan your lien holder doesn't do the necessary paperwork to take their lien off your vehicle title.  They have no motivation to do it think about it you've already paid them and they make no money filing the needed paperwork to "free" your car.  It is your duty to make sure your title is released off its lien.  To do that visit the Florida VIN check website at https://services.flhsmv.gov/mvcheckweb/ and enter your VIN to make sure your vehicle has no lien.

2.  MAKE SURE YOU HAVE A PRINTED TITLE AND NOT AN ELECTRONIC TITLE.

Electronic titles are a hassle in the state of Florida.  If you're going to sell your vehicle to a private buyer you have to make an appointment at the DMV and go with your buyer to the tag office.  If you're going to junk or salvage your car to a junk buyer they will not waste time going to the tag office.  A lot of times they will verify you own the vehicle but have to run a VIN check which will cost you and lower the price of the vehicle.  The amount you will lose will be dependent on the county and the vehicle but is best to just get a print title and not have to go thru that.  If you currently have an E-Title is easy to request a tile in person at the DMV for a fee of around $10 and if you do it online is around $4.50 cent.  Just head over to https://services.flhsmv.gov/virtualoffice/ and enter all your car and personal info.  They will mail you a print title in a few days.

3.  DO NOT REMOVE ANY CAR PARTS.

Contrary to some other websites advice to take your battery, radio, etc. I caution not to take anything from the vehicle because if you do, you risk getting less money for your car.  For example if a battery is not present in your car at the time of pick up you might be getting paid $10 to $20 dollars less.  If your car has no engine or no transmission or exhaust you might not get paid anything at all for your car.  Think about it owning and driving a tow truck costs money also owning a wrecking yard is expensive but yet most companies don't charge you a towing fee to pick up your junk car and pay you money for it.  You think they'll stay in business if they can't make money on your car parts.  There's a reason they don't charge to tow your car and is because they make their money on car parts or on the scrap weight.

4.  REMOVE YOUR LICENSE PLATE AND PERSONAL BELONGINGS.

Once your vehicle is picked up even your towing operator or the wrecking yard might not even know where it might end up.  Depends on the year make and model of your car it might get crushed right away and torn into pieces.  It might also end up in a "you pull it" junk yard where it sits in the ground where it waits for customers to take whatever part they need.  So if you leave your plates in the vehicle someone might take it and god forbid what they can do with it.  Also any personal mail letters that might have your name address social security account numbers house keys and any personal belonging that might identify you or your property is really not the best thing to leave inside a junk car.

5.  MAKE YOUR VEHICLE IS ASSECIBLE AND HAS AIR IN THE TIRES

I can't stress that enough that your vehicle is going on tow truck and the harder it is to pick it up the longer the process will take.  Please make sure your tires are inflated and if they're flat or they are off the vehicle please let the junk car dealer know the condition is in that way he can make a determination if he can send the proper tow truck or if he can even pick up the car.  Some junk car buyers will not risk their tow trucks with an Unassessable vehicle.

6.  PLEASE REMOVE ANY CUSTOM AFTER MARKET ACCESSORIES

Junk car dealers normally don't want your car stereo or your back up sensors or customer wheels.  If you installed anything like this on your vehicle and you can remove them yourself consider removing these items to use in your next car for your next transportation solution.  Car buyers will not pay you anything extra for these and they just will end up in a pile of scrap getting crushed.

7.  MAKE SURE YOUR GET CASH FOR YOUR CAR AND NOT A CHECK OR WORSE A "VOUCHER"

Some big national companies will not pay cash and instead issue you a check and give your vouchers.  We at Junk Cars Brevard pay cash on the spot for junk or salvage cars.  Do not sign your title over unless you're getting cash for your car if the tow truck operator wants you to sign the title without giving you cash money walk away.  If the company you’re dealing with is offering "vouchers" please don't take them because most of the times it is very difficult to "cash in" those vouchers and you will end up not using them.
